In the remote and beautiful beach of Corumbau, on the south coast of Bahia, lays the intimate luxury getaway of Tauana. Corumbau is located 200Km from Porto Seguro, from where one can get to the hotel in a few minutes by light aircraft, or by boat or car, which takes around 3 hours. It is one of those paradisiacal places where one forgets about all worries of daily life. The idyllic beach has white sand and a stream that goes to the sea. The long pasting of coral reefs goes 10 Km inside the ocean, and disappear when the tide comes up. The owner of the charming hotel intended to develop a self sustaining project. The property was reforested with 30,000 trees as well as an onsite treatment system to avoid any water or soil contamination, proving that comfort and design can coexist with sustainability. Meals are served with ingredients from an organic garden and 140 fruit trees planted on the area. All to bring guests closer to a more natural way of life. At Tauana hotel, piaçava, a local palm tree, blends with indigenous adobe, creating an authentic elegant atmosphere. Each of the spacious villas is designed in a minimalist style with warm neutral shades and delicate, sheer curtains hanging above the beds. The 09 villas, with 130m2, offer canopy king size beds, 300 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets, Portuguese bedspread, plenty of windows to capture the light and the silence of nature in the absence of television. The 20 foot high ceilings, large terrace and outdoor shower work in a way to make guests feel part of the great outdoors. Guests wake up to see stunning views of the endless and unspoiled shores of the nearby beach just steps away from their villa. All year round it is possible to canoe along rivers lined with mangroves, trek or bike through the jungle, or even visit an Indian village. During the summer it is possible to go scuba diving in the coral reefs and from July to November whales can be observed when they migrate for calm and warm waters of the area for calving. Tauana is an ideal retreat for the environmentally conscious traveler.
