5 days / 4 night Packages - Lençois Maranhenses Tour 2
Located at about 332km from São Luís, the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park is considered the “Brazilian Sahara”, for it is a 155 thousand hectares dune desert which extends itself from the continent towards the sea, but with a great difference the deserts at Lençóis Maranhenses it rains 300 times more, which forms hundreds of emerald-green lagoons in the midst of gigantic dunes, offering to the traveler a beautiful scene with the white sands and the lagoons.
The entrance door to the park is through the city of Barreirinhas (240km from São Luís), a small city with reasonable tourism structure and an aircraft landing field . The best period to visit Lençois Maranhenses is from January to August when the lagoons are fullest, in the plenitude of its beauty.
Day 1 – São Luis
Arrival at the airport and meet your guide to drive to the hotel for check in and accommodation.
Balance of the day at leisure. Overnight stay in São Luis.
Day 2 - São Luis / Barreirinhas (B)
Departure (early in the morning) from hotel in Sao Luis to Barreirinhas.
Accommodation in a Pousada, and take a tour to the famous natural lakes with crystal clear water(formed by rain) and dunes. Evening free.
Day 3 - Barreirinhas (B)
After breakfast departure from your pousada to a Fd tour by boat through Preguiça River until Cabure a simple, exotic and rustic place, bathed by the Preguiças River on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. Here you can choose from several restaurants to have lunch (not included). During the tour we will stop at Vassouras to swim in one of the small Lençois, then will continue to Mandacaru to visit the Lighthouse that from the top of its 35m or 160 steps, it is possible to see the Preguiças River, the Lençóis Maranhenses and the white dunes along the margins of the Maranhão sea. It is located in the village of Mandacaru, at the edge of the Park. The Lighthouse is closed to visits on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Evening free.
Day 4 - Barreirinhas (B)
All day at leisure.
Day 5 - Barreirinhas / São Luis (B)
Morning at leisure. At appropriate time departure to São Luis.
