Flor de Lis

Photo: Disclousure / orlario.com.br
A new hotspot is turning heads along Barra’s lively waterfront with an innovative concept. The newly opened Flor de Lis kiosk delivers an oceanfront dining experience—while also serving as a tribute to one of Brazil’s most iconic musicians: Djavan.
Decorated with references to the artist’s career, the space is an invitation for anyone who loves great music and great food. From the décor to the menu, everything draws from Djavan’s artistic universe.
Flor de Lis’s standout feature is its original menu, featuring snacks and dishes inspired by famous song titles. Guests can dig into options like “Flor de Lis Crocante,” featuring breaded shrimp with a touch of heat, or “Oceano Ceviche,” a refreshing take on the Peruvian classic with fresh seafood.
Beyond the food, the kiosk offers a relaxed, welcoming vibe—perfect for unwinding by the sea. With chairs and tables set right on the sand, guests can enjoy their meal while taking in the stunning ocean view.
For Fábio, Flor de Lis’s operator, the inspiration behind the concept is deeply personal: “Djavan is one of Brazil’s greatest artists, and his music has the power to transport us to special places. We wanted to create a space that not only celebrates his work, but also offers a unique experience for our guests,” he said.
The public response has been extremely positive, with many praising the originality of the concept and the quality of the dishes. The kiosk has already become a popular gathering point for locals and tourists looking for the perfect mix of good music, great food, and a privileged view.
For Djavan fans—and for anyone who simply enjoys a great seaside meal—Flor de Lis is a must on Barra’s food scene. With its cozy atmosphere and creative menu, it’s set to delight even the most demanding palates, all while guests relax to the unmistakable melodies of one of MPB’s true masters.

Leo & Mar

Photo: Disclousure / orlario.com.br
Leo & Mar was founded 24 years ago near lifeguard station 8 on Barra da Tijuca Beach by the couple Lenilson and Marinei—its name a reference to the owners’ nicknames. The family business began as a simple beach stand selling barbecue on the sand and, after seven years, with a loyal customer base and the opportunity to move into a better structure, Leo & Mar became a full kiosk.
The kiosk is located in one of the calmest and most pleasant areas of Rio’s waterfront, surrounded by the sea of Barra and the Marapendi Lagoon. The venue offers restrooms, protection from rain and wind, background music, phone-charging facilities, and accepts reservations for birthdays, barbecues, and events. Its greatest asset is the warm, attentive service, which builds customer loyalty while offering quality food at affordable prices.
The menu is quite diverse. Highlights include the sun-dried beef (carne de sol) served with cassava—one of the few kiosks along the waterfront to offer this dish—and the hake fillet. Another strong point is the house-made sauces, with four options always available: tartar, madeira, rosé, and barbecue. To round out the experience, there’s always ice-cold beer, fresh juices, and special mango and passion fruit caipirinhas.

Barra Mares

Photo: Disclousure / orlario.com.br
Barra Mares opened in 2010, with its name inspired by the condominium located across the street—home to some of the kiosk’s most loyal customers.
Conceived by Luiz Felipe Celidonio, the kiosk was the first beachside venture in what would become a successful expansion journey, alongside friends who later became partners in two other establishments: Claudio Aureliano, Fábio Silva, and Giovan Barbosa. What started as a laid-back hangout eventually evolved into a solid concept focused on accessible food, good service, and comfort.
Set in an open-air, relaxing environment with unobstructed ocean views, Barra Mares’ standout feature is its attentive and welcoming service. The menu caters to different tastes, offering items such as pastries, skewers, and sandwiches. The house specialty is seafood—especially fish bites, anchovy, and the seafood platter. To accompany the dishes, there’s a wide selection of drinks including coconut water, beer, draft beer, and cocktails, with caipirinhas and gin among the most popular choices.

Since 1979, Via 11 has been bringing a wide range of gastronomic options to Rio’s waterfront, surprising visitors with both flavor and versatility.
Located across from Praça Duó, the atmosphere is very pleasant and family-friendly, with several options designed especially for children, including a kids’ menu and an exclusive playground area.
At the kiosk, former professional surfer Flávio Costa rents surfboards for those eager to venture into the waves. In other words, it’s an ideal spot to enjoy with the whole family—Carioca style. And if you’re into a truly hearty hot dog, Via 11 does it differently: delicious and far from traditional. The sandwich is served on crustless bread, filled with sausage, bacon, ground beef, sauce, and offered at a fair price. It also comes topped with grated Parmesan cheese, mayonnaise, and crispy potato sticks. Mouthwatering, isn’t it?

K08

Photo: Disclousure / orlario.com.br
Much more than a kiosk, K08 is a true beach sports club and a pioneer in the practice and teaching of kitesurfing. Here, sustainable habits and a love for the ocean are passed down from generation to generation and shared with everyone who visits.
Run by kitesurfer Francisco Ferreira—known as Frajola—the kiosk has been a reference point for young crowds at Praia do Pepê since 2001. The atmosphere is relaxed, blending rustic and sophisticated elements that combine beach lightness, healthy cuisine, and well-being. The space is also kid-friendly and pet-friendly. Inspired by European beach clubs and surf spots, K08 was one of the first to invest in infrastructure focused on delivering a complete user experience.
Menu highlights include Hawaiian-style poke bowls, wraps, and starters such as ceviche and carpaccio in salmon, beef, and octopus versions. The kiosk also offers an executive lunch menu from Monday to Friday, a children’s menu, and a breakfast buffet on weekends. There are organic, vegan, gluten-free, and lactose-free options. Staying true to its natural concept, açaí is one of the house specialties, made with pure ingredients and sweetened with molasses. As for drinks, the standouts are the signature cocktails: “Joatinga” (gin with red fruit infusion), “K08” (tangerine and star anise), and “Ki-Royal” (sparkling wine and cassis).
